Transformed cards are cached locally so you never see the same transformation twice in a session. Each review presents a fresh variation.
Background Prefetch
While you study, AnkiAscend prefetches upcoming cards in the background. This means most cards appear instantly without waiting for AI processing.
Settings Explained
Mode Selection
Choose between Off, Jitter, Board Style, or MCQ mode. You can change modes anytime during review using the mode badge in the corner of your cards.
Domain
Set your study domain (Medical or General). This helps the AI generate more relevant transformations and clinical scenarios.
Excluded Decks
Specify decks where AnkiAscend should stay inactive. Useful for decks with image-heavy content or where you want original card format.
Excluded Tags
Cards with certain tags (like 'marked' or 'leech') can be excluded from transformation. Add your own tags to fine-tune which cards get transformed.
Auto-Switch
Enable automatic mode switching based on your performance streak. After several correct answers, the mode can automatically increase difficulty.
Optimizing Your Study Sessions
Start with Jitter Mode
Begin your session with Jitter mode to warm up. This mode is less intensive but still prevents pattern matching, helping you engage with the core concepts.
Use Board Style for Weak Areas
Switch to Board Style mode for topics you find challenging. The clinical context helps build connections and improves retention through meaningful associations.
Finish with MCQ Practice
End your session with MCQ mode to simulate exam conditions. This builds test-taking stamina and helps identify remaining gaps.
Review Original Cards Occasionally
Periodically review cards in original format to ensure you can still recognize the material in its standard form. Use the mode toggle to switch back.
